Beatrice Watson moved from Santiago, Chile, to South Africa and began painting full-time in 1982. In 1990, Beatrice and her family immigrated to North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The direction of Beatrice's work has been painting and drawing of various subject matters in watercolours, acrylics and pastels. Currently, Beatrice's medium of choice is acrylics. Through constant experimentation, she has discovered her own way and developed her individual style.
Beatrice's approach to painting is to use a great deal of intuition and inventiveness. She wants her paintings to inspire contemplation and to say new things every time you look upon them. The colours in Beatrice's paintings attract people and draw them into her art. The gestural strokes and overlays of colours create a loose effect that attracts your imagination. Her paintings look simple but are not. They come deep from within her soul, and she struggles to make every stroke perfect and right. Intuition tells her when she has finished the painting.
